Successful Conversation with Angry Parent
This is a great video about setting boundaries if a parent speaks to you disrespectfully. Remember that you have a right to be respected, despite the severity of a situation. Remember also that the parent has a right to be respected, no matter how they are behaving. Set boundaries to help the conversation continue. Resist the urge to become emotional and defensive. This will only escalate the situation. Watch the video below for a model statement. If you feel uncomfortable during a conversation with a parent, kindly ask the parent to accompany you to the office for mediation with an administrator. If the parent refuses to leave, begin walking toward the office and invite them to meet you there. (They will follow you). Hopefully, you will not ever experience the challenge of an angry parent, but planning ahead can prepare you with strategies in case it ever happens.

Synergy grade book progress report
Though not a requirement (from a special education perspective), you might want to know how to print a progress report of your grade book for parent-teacher conferences. Here are screen shots created by Stephen Zanzucchi (at Melvin E Sine Elementary) Progress Report for Synergy gradebook.docx
